How to build trust in yourself

Written by Lindsey Kaszuba

Self-trust has been a topic that’s come up with nearly all of my clients recently, and in my experience, it’s something we all deal with, especially when it comes to the choices we make in our health.

Maybe historically you haven’t made decisions that feel the best for you (and your body), so I know it’s super scary to attempt to trust yourself, especially around food, when historically it’s led you to over-eating and bad habits.

Answer this question honestly:

Do you want to learn how to trust yourself so that you’ll make decisions that are best for you?

Before you can learn to rely on your inner guide (that initial gut reaction) you need to get honest with where you’re at.

Let’s take a few minutes to reflect on the below questions. Write down anything that comes up so you can see any patterns.

On a scale of 1 - 10:

How happy are you with your current routines?

How does your body feel right now?

How happy are you with your daily movement practice?

How happy are you with your mindfulness practice?

How aware are you of your limiting beliefs, doubts, & negative thought patterns?

Honestly assessing where you are can be extremely eye-opening and can also cause feelings of shame or guilt. If you’re feeling this feel free to reach out and let me know how I can support you in moving through these emotions so you can get beyond them. Being aware of them and being open to pushing through them is the first step in ditching the habits that are keeping you stuck…you know the ones that are making you feel like $hit.

Once you see where you’re at, you can start taking small daily action steps to move beyond those old stories that are holding you back.
