What I’m grateful for + Tips for a guilt-free Thanksgiving

Written by Lindsey Kaszuba

Thankful doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. I’m beyond grateful for my life right now - and YOU are part of that. So thank you.

The holiday season is here and it’s time to stop battling your body. You want to enjoy your day this holiday, eat all the things you’ve been thinking about, and not feel guilty about your choices, right?

I promise that is possible and life on the other side of this battle is beyond your wildest dreams and worth every ounce of inner work you gotta do to get there.

I know deep in my heart that you deserve to feel great. Not just okay, but great.

Thanksgiving is meant to be a time for gratitude, indulgence, and family fun. But for many women, it turns into a guilt-ridden fight with food and their bodies. Sound familiar?

I've been there - trapped in the diet mentality rollercoaster of severe restriction followed by reckless abandoning of my goals at the sight of holiday dishes. I mean, so many of them bring up so much nostalgia and happiness right?!

But it doesn't have to be total restriction or complete indulgence!

This year, give yourself the gift of enjoying Thanksgiving free of food guilt. Because it truly is a gift, and one you can give to yourself.

You don't have to succumb to the back-and-forth cycle of dieting and over-indulgence. You can give yourself permission to indulge in your favorite foods while still feeling empowered, balanced, and proud of your choices.

Here are my tips to stay balanced:

  • Eat your veggies first - green bean casserole included! This allows your body to absorb fiber first which will slow down blood sugar spikes from carb-heavy dishes.

  • Indulge in small portions of your faves - savor each bite!

    • No need to restrict them, just notice how they feel in your body.

  • Drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

    • Your body is made up primarily of water so replenish, replenish, replenish.

  • Move your body when you can to keep your energy up, even if it's a walk around the block!

    • Some movement is better than no movement.

  • Wear an outfit you feel confident and comfy in.

    • Let your outfit boost your mood!

  • Don't deprive yourself.

    • Leftovers are part of the fun.

  • If you overindulge, be kind to yourself!

    • Refocus on nourishing foods the next day and do not beat yourself up over what you eat.

These are some of the ways I stay tuned into my body, even on the holidays when over-indulgence is the norm.

Focus on the memories, not the calories. Your body is there to support you, not hold you back. I'm cheering you on for a guilt-free Thanksgiving - you've got this!

Wishing you a peaceful, love-filled holiday ahead,

Lindsey xx
