My morning routine + how to start yours

Written by Lindsey Kaszuba

A morning routine really does set the tone for the rest of the day. Take small steps every day to discover what is realistic for your current lifestyle so that you're able to establish a daily routine that feels good to you.

As a busy working mom of two (almost three!), my morning routine is sacred. It's time for me to take care of myself, wake my body and mind, and prepare for the day.

Here's what works for me.

I get out of bed by 6:30 am and immediately roll onto my yoga mat for a 20-minute yoga/pilates flow. I then add a scoop of AG1 Athletic Greens to 8 oz of water, which gives me a boost of vitamins and minerals, and hydration. We lose about 1 liter of water while we're sleeping so it's important to hydrate as soon as you wake. I'm also all about habit stacking!

We usually eat breakfast together as a family, which always consists of protein, quality carbs, and fresh fruit. We love chia bowls, oat bowls, pancakes, and simple eggs & toast.

My husband typically gets the kids ready while I get ready (yes, I'm very lucky!). Then we jump into the stroller and head to school; which is one reason I love living in the city with kids. When I get home, I make a cappuccino or grab a matcha from Cha Cha Matcha. This is my favorite time of the day!

If I'm working from home, I try to meditate for at least 10 minutes before beginning my workday, and if I'm going out for the day, I'll meditate when I arrive at my co-working spot. Adding this practice to my routine has really helped me in clearing my mind and prioritize for the day.

I promise you won't regret it if you can resist the urge to snooze your alarm. The extra 5 minutes of shut-eye (not even sleep) is usually not worth the sluggish morning that lingers longer than necessary when you do press snooze.

Experiment with a routine that feels good to you. Focus on what feels good and is realistic for your current lifestyle. And it's fine if you have a child hanging off your back while doing a plank because obstacles are merely detours in the right direction 😉

Now that you know my morning routine, start building yours so that it feels great for you.
