Chocolate Banana Protein Shake

The perfect afternoon snack. It’s quick, easy, filing and perfectly chocolate-y, plus if you have kids it’s a guaranteed hit.

Cacao powder is the lesser known counterpart to cocoa powder, but is processed at lower temperatures so it retains much of its nutritional benefits. Cacao promotes healthy digestion, improves blood flow which can help lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and it contains potassium, iron, fiber and protein. It does contain some caffeine (about 1/2 a cup of coffee) so be aware if you are caffeine sensitive.

Pro tip: Cacao is a little bitter so I always add some natural sweetener, like honey or maple syrup.
