Unlock Your Wellness Superpower: The Final Two Steps to Transform Your Health (Part 2 of 2)

We've all dreamed of having superpowers, right? Teleporting would definitely be my chosen power :)

But what if I told you that you already possess a wellness superpower that's been with you all along? 

In our last post, we explored the first two steps to eating, thinking, and moving healthier. Today, we're diving into the final two steps that will help you unlock your innate ability to transform your health, on your terms. 

Remember, our future health is shaped by our daily habits. These final two steps are all about creating sustainable, feel-good routines that fit into your busy life. Ready to unleash your wellness superpower?!

Step 3: Mindful Movement

For too long, we've looked at exercise as just a way to burn calories. Sure, that is certainly a physical benefit, but it’s so much more than that! When we focus solely on calories in and calories out or how many calories we’re burning in spin class we stay focused on moving as a means to reach a specific physical goal. And sometimes, that goal is not only unattainable but it’s also wildly unrealistic for how we are approaching it. So, it's time to change that narrative! Think about mindful movement in this way…it’s just moving your body in a way that feels good, gives you energy, and builds strength - both physically and mentally. When we release our restrictive and rigid ways of thinking about movement, it starts to actually feel better. I dare you to try ;)

Here's how to approach movement mindfully:

  1. Focus on how you feel, not just how you look

    • Wanting to look good can be a great motivator, but instead of exercising to change your body, move to feel energized, strong, and confident. Your body is capable of amazing things - celebrate what it can do and the looking good part will come. 

      • Something to ponder: why are you attached to looking a certain way? I wonder how it would feel for you to attach to the feelings of looking good - feeling confident, feeling sexy, feeling powerful.

  2. Add micro-moments of movement to your day 

    • Can't fit in a full workout? No problem! Take a quick stretch break, dance while doing chores, play with the kids, or go for a short walk. Every bit of movement counts and some minutes are better than no minutes.

  3. Explore different types of movement

    • Movement doesn't have to be rigid or boring. To find a sustainable movement practice it should give you more joy! Try walking in nature, dancing to your favorite music, gardening, or playing with your kids. Find what brings you joy and makes you excited to move!

Remember, any movement is better than no movement. The goal is to make it a consistent, enjoyable part of your day. Your body will thank you for it!

Step 4: Consistency Over Perfection

Here's a game-changing truth: Consistency doesn't mean perfection. It simply means showing up for yourself over and over again, even when things aren't perfect. This might be the most powerful part of your wellness superpower!

How to stay consistent without burning out:

  1. Set realistic goals that fit your lifestyle

    • Small, achievable goals are the building blocks of big changes. Start with something so easy you can't say no, then build from there.

  2. Ditch the "all-or-nothing" mindset 

    • One off-track meal or missed workout doesn't erase all your progress. Life happens! Acknowledge it, then keep moving forward.

  3. Find your support system 

    • Surround yourself with people who encourage and inspire your health journey. Whether it's friends, family, or an online community, having support makes a world of difference. And if you need one, I’m always here for you.

  4. Celebrate every small win 

    • Acknowledging your progress, no matter how small, keeps you motivated. Did you drink an extra glass of water today? Celebrate it! Choose a nutritious snack? That's worth recognizing!

By combining all four steps - mindful eating, positive self-talk, mindful movement, and consistency - you're creating a powerful foundation for sustainable health and happiness. This is your wellness superpower in action!

Remember, it's not about being perfect. It's about making small, feel-good choices each day that add up over time. These choices become habits, and these habits shape your health and your life.

This week, choose one small habit from either mindful movement or consistency to focus on. Maybe it's taking a 10-minute walk each day, or celebrating one small win daily. Whatever you choose, remember that it's these small, consistent actions that lead to big transformations!
